New Teacher Mentor Academy Kickoff – August 10, 2023 – Linn Benton Community College

Morning Session – 8:30-11:30am (Catered lunch provided)


  • Connect in-person before the yearlong, virtual New Teacher Mentor Academy begins. Participants will receive Mentoring in Action and its companion text for new teachers, The First Years Matter.
  • For anyone who mentors or supports the growth of new teachers
  • Participants will receive a $150 stipend

Afternoon Session – 12:30-3:30pm (Arrive at 11:30am to enjoy a catered lunch)


  • For district teams to connect and collaborate around the challenges and successes of their programs. We will imagine the journey we’d like our novice teachers to experience, assess our district supports, and share ideas to strengthen mentoring across the region.
  • For mentor leaders, mentors, and others who support new teachers
  • Participants will receive a $150 stipend

New Teacher Mentor Academy – Yearlong – Virtual Course

5:00-6:30pm each month

  • Sessions alternate between a community of practice where participants learn about new tools and resources, while also engaging with other mentors around their problems of practice and Educators Thriving sessions, which provide participants with the research, strategies, and resources to proactively support the social and emotional well-being of new teachers, with the goal of moving them from barely surviving to thriving. Additional options will be available for those who completed year one of the Academy and are ready for higher levels of collaboration with peers and a deeper dive into mentoring practice.
  • Participants will receive a $75 stipend per session
  • Option to earn 6 graduate credits from Corban University
