School in the Fall
Oregon Department of Education released the preliminary Resiliency Framework for the 2021-2022 school year. Student instruction will return full time and in-person. Additional guidance and information will be released by ODE at the end of July which will guide our school return plans. More information will be posted when our plans are finalized.
Oregon attendance law requires all children between the ages of 6 and 18 years are required to regularly attend school full-time. Students who are not attending public school often choose private school or home school. With the availability of online schools, there is some confusion about which programs are considered public, private or home school options.
Attendance may include physically attending a local public school or remaining at home and attending an online public charter school. Oregon online public charter schools are part of the public school system. These schools are tuition free, and the entire curriculum is provided.
Students enrolled in a private school they do not physically attend (online or correspondence programs) are considered to be home schooling and parents must notify LBL ESD of their intention to home school.
Home School is education provided in the home by the parent or guardian. Home school parents have the full responsibility for their student’s education, including all curriculum choices and record keeping. Each family may use whatever methods and curriculum they choose, but they must find and purchase their materials on their own.
If a student is being home schooled, then parents must notify LBL ESD of their intention to home school. To do so please contact the Home School office at 541-812-2751.
