Classes will be held on Thursdays for four weeks: February 23, March 2, March 9, and March 16. You only need to register for the first class, but you must attend the first three classes. Class on March 16 will not be needed unless you are taking it for credit. Class starts at 5:00 p.m. and runs until 8:00 p.m. the first three weeks. On March 16 we will start at 5:00 p.m. and end at 7:00 p.m. Classes will be held at LBL ESD.

Nicole Duncan
Nicole Duncan has taught for 12 years as a high school Chemistry teacher. She pursued teaching after five years as a research Chemist. She currently teaches at South Albany High School in Albany, Oregon. Nicole will be co-teaching this class with Cindy Drouhard a master teacher at Clover Ridge Middle School. She has provided professional development opportunities since 2010 when she was awarded an $10,000 ODE grant to create and implement a three-day workshop on Moving Science Education Forward. This workshop was designed to help prepare teachers for the new science standards with emphasis on Engineering Design in the classroom. She has participated as a member on the State Science committee for the past four years and was tasked with providing PD in her school district centered around the Next Generation Science Standards. She currently holds an At-Large position on the Oregon Science Teachers Association Board and is actively involved in leading teachers in developing and designing assessments related to the new Oregon Standards.
Jenna Logerwell
Jenna Logerwell has taught in the upper elementary grades for seven years. Her first position was teaching 5th grade to English Language Learners in Quito, Ecuador. For the last four years she has taught 3rd and 4th grade in Albany, Oregon.She is an active member of her school’s ILT, pursuing professional development and working with other staff members to set and achieve school-wide goals. Danielle Blackwell
Danielle (Dani) Blackwell is currently working as an administrator in the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment department in Greater Albany Public Schools (GAPS). Student engagement is her priority and passion. She will be team teaching High Leverage Teaching Practices—with a focus on AVID strategies – with Ben Sell.
Dani’s teaching career included varying courses taught at the Middle school/high school level for 14 years, mostly for GAPS. She specialized in Physical Education & Health, earning her Master of Arts degree from Oregon State University. She has since continued her education and received her administrator license.
In recent years, Dani helped launch GAPS Advanced Diploma Program where she advised, mentored, and monitored students in a 13th year at Linn Benton Community College. The program had great success and showed an 80% increase in participants in the past two years. Dani has also been an adjunct professor at Oregon State University in the teacher prep program for the Master of Science in Physical Education as well as a part time instructor at Linn Benton Community College for 5 years.
Benjamin Sell
Benjamin Sell teaches English, AVID, and Theater at South Albany High School. He was part of the team that piloted the AVID Elective class in Greater Albany and has been involved with AVID planning and implementation district-wide these past 3 years. Ben will be team teaching High Leverage Teaching Practices – with a focus on AVID strategies – with Dani Blackwell.
Ben is currently balancing his responsibilities as Theater Arts Director at SAHS with his role as district AVID Coach, working with AVID Elective Teachers, Tutors, and Coordinators at the middle and high school levels. Outside of the world of education, Ben has spent 20 years as a performer and improv educator for several local groups including Infinite Improv! and Improv at the Majestic.[/toggle-box] [toggle-box title=”High Impact Strategies for Elementary”]Microteaching, feedback, acceleration, student self-reported grades, and engagement strategies.

Luke Zedwick
Luke Zedwick taught Math and Science for 11 years at the Middle and High School Levels. He has been part of curriculum adoption and instructional rounds teams as a teacher leader in the Eugene School District. For the last five years, he has worked as an elementary school principal in the Scio School District, and he focuses his staff on instructional improvements whenever possible. He takes part in the Curriculum Directors Team at LBLESD and has been instrumental in developing Scio’s Teacher Evaluation program and supporting instructional walkthroughs and peer observations within his district.
