Train staff to interpret following best practices and ethics and standards of national associations.

This will be the first of two trainings this year to connect and grow with others being used in this capacity in the region.

Our goals are to build on each training and soon provide a nationally recognized certificate for interpretation/translation in community settings.

Some of the topics to be discussed at our training:

  • Interpreter role
  • Dual language staff and the challenges/ethics involved in interpretation/translation
  • The legality of IEPs and why being skilled and qualified is necessary

Why is training important, even if you have attended prior training?

  • Professional development
  • Keeping abreast of trends and legal changes/updates to our field
  • Connect with other interpreters/translators in the region for support/help

IEPS are legal documents, so skilled and qualified interpreters are necessary.

Informed consent (clear and compete understanding) is vital to the process of evaluating and determining eligibility for SPED services.
