Join us for a valuable day of learning designed to equip school and agency staff with the tools to support students during times of trauma and grief. The morning session focuses on understanding how individuals experience and process trauma, grief, and loss—both personally and in others—and how to offer meaningful support in a Care Room setting.
In the afternoon, we’ll take a detailed look at the LBL ESD Crisis Response/Flight Team Manual, including key procedures, administrator responsibilities, classroom strategies, support room guidelines, and communication tools to help guide an effective response during school crises or tragic events.
Session One: Navigating Trauma & Grief in the Care Room Setting (9am-12pm)
- Build awareness of how humans process grief, trauma, and loss
- Build awareness of our own processes for managing grief, trauma, and loss
- Learn how to provide support in the Care Room setting
- Learn about the Crisis Response process
Session Two: Nuts & Bolts: LBL ESD Crisis Response/Flight Team Manual (1pm-3pm)
- Review the LBL ESD Crisis Response Manual, a guide for school administrators and staff on response procedures during crises or tragic events
- This includes:
- “At a Glance” and “Day of Response” flowcharts
- Administrator roles and responsibilities
- Classroom guidelines & Strategies
- Support room procedures
- Sample forms and communication handouts
- Review of individual crisis response
