Verbal Intervention Training
- Builds confidence and skills to verbally de-escalate and prevent escalation
- Designed for staff not typically involved in high-risk situations requiring restraint
- Equips staff with tools to manage their own emotions and recognize escalating behavior
- Teaches situational assessment and practical de-escalation strategies
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
- Includes Verbal Intervention Course instruction
- Offers tools for managing complex behaviors and informed decision-making
- Teaches recognition of crisis escalation stages
- Builds skills to align response level with crisis risk
- Covers disengagement safety and physical interventions within a risk assessment framework
Format & Details
- Participants will complete prerequisite asynchronous virtual training (approx. 2.5 hours)
- In person Training at LBL ESD (905 SE 4th St. Albany, OR)
- Price is $51.69 per person, per CPI’s rates. No fee is assessed by LBL ESD.
Refresher Training Features & Benefits
- Verbal (half day) or NCI (full day training options) with no prerequisite virtual training

- Reviews core models and strategies from initial training
- Practices physical interventions and holding techniques
- Provides scenario-based problem-solving opportunities
