Public Meeting Participation

The ESD Board is interested in hearing from the public. To submit a public comment, please review policy BDDH (Public Participation in Board Meetings) and BDDH-AR (Public Comment at Board Meetings). Comments may be made either in person or electronically. Public comment requires your name and address per policy and for public record; public comment should be brief and concise. Please limit your comment to a maximum of 3 minutes. The Board will not hear comments regarding any individual ESD staff member. Complaints involving a staff member must follow procedures outlined in policy KL Public Complaints and KL-AR Public Complaint Procedure. The Board Chair may use discretion to establish a time limit if the number of comments exceeds the time allowed.

To provide public comment in person, if the opportunity is available on the Board agenda, please complete and submit the Intent to Speak card to the Board secretary prior to the meeting. Cards are located at the entrance of the meeting room.

To provide public comment electronically, if the opportunity is available on the Board agenda, please notify the Board secretary by submitting the electronic Intent to Speak form at least one hour prior to the meeting. The electronic form is included in the board meeting announcement posts.

To provide a prerecorded video comment that is original content, related to LBL ESD business and presented by the person submitting the comment, please submit the electronic Intent to Speak form in the board meeting announcement posts and attach a video file. Video files must be received by the Board secretary by 12:00 PM (Noon) the day of the Board meeting. Files must be in a format that does not require modification to play (*.avi, *.mov, *.mp4, *.mpg, *.wmv). Only the first three minutes of the video will be played.

Michael Thomson

Biography

Director Thomson has lived in the Linn-Benton area since 2007. A son of public school teachers, Michael graduated from The Evergreen State College and worked in the Washington State Legislature and for the City of Vancouver WA before arriving in Oregon. He is currently a full time Dad and community volunteer serving numerous nonprofit and public agencies in the Albany area.

Michael served four years on the Greater Albany Public Schools Board where he advocated for students and families from all backgrounds and experiences.

Michael lives in the West Albany area with wife Jolene and daughter Erin.

David Dunsdon

Biography

Director Dunsdon is an experienced advocate of education at all levels…..early learning, K-12, and higher education. Director Dunsdon has served five terms on LBL’s Board of Directors, three terms on Lincoln County School Board of Directors, and on numerous state, regional, and local organizations, boards and commissions. Mr. Dunsdon brings to LBL skills in school finance, accounting, governance, law, policy and long range planning.

Mr. Dunsdon has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from University of the Pacific; A Master’s in Business Administration in Accounting from Central Michigan University; and has completed post graduate work in education at Oregon State University.

An Oregonian born in Corvallis, Mr. Dunsdon is a retired university instructor, now enjoying life on the Oregon Coast south of Yachats

Amy Vetor

Biography

Director Vetor grew up in the Portland area, but she has resided in the Linn-Benton area for the last ten years. She has two young children who attend schools in the area. She earned two degrees from George Fox University, a Bachelor of Arts in music and a Master of Arts in Teaching. She has taken additional graduate-level coursework through Oregon State University, and she has also taken early childhood development classes through Linn Benton Community College.

She has worked in a variety of fields including education, retail management, and school photography. For the last five years, she has worked as a substitute teacher for Greater Albany Public Schools. She also has previous experience serving as a substitute for Lebanon Community Schools and the Shawnee Mission School District in Kansas. She specializes in teaching middle school and has done several long-term substitute teaching positions.

Miriam Cummins

Biography

Director Cummins has been a proud resident of the Linn-Benton area since 2006. She is the mother of two school-aged children who attend the Greater Albany Public School District. A graduate of Oregon State University, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish with a minor in French. Ms. Cummins previously worked at Linn Benton Lincoln ESD as one of two Spanish Interpreters with the Special Education Evaluation Services. She now owns Miriam’s Oasis, where she offers services in cultural guidance, equity, creative entrepreneurship, cosplay, travel planning, and spiritual guidance. Through her work, she helps individuals and organizations implement Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion practices to foster J.E.D.I. leadership. Balancing her professional and personal responsibilities, Ms. Cummins values work-life harmony, ensuring time for family, self-care, and creative endeavors.

Ms. Cummins is a passionate advocate for families of students in special education and is a dedicated champion for accessibility and inclusion. Her efforts focus on empowering families to navigate special education systems and ensuring that every child receives the support they need to thrive.

Born in Mexico and immigrating to the United States at age 8, Ms. Cummins grew up in the coastal town of Coos Bay. Her experiences fueled her passion for ensuring Latine/x representation in schools and advocating for Limited English Proficient students and their families. She remains committed to making outreach and information accessible to all parents, regardless of race, ethnicity, disability, or language.

In her spare time, Ms. Cummins loves spending time with her kids, cosplaying (dressing up as Wonder Woman and visiting Children’s Hospitals or attending charity events as Princess Jasmine), traveling (especially to Egypt), and collecting Lego sets.
