Developed by the Oregon Council on Developmental Disabilities (2014) to serve as a transition guide for families and students.

A Timeline For Transition: A teachers companion to “Planning My Way to Work”
Developed by the Lane County Transition Linkage Coalition as a companion to the Planning my Way to Work book.  This document lays out specific activities and agencies that schools and families can consider as students progress through the transition process.

A place for transition educators to find resources to support student learning online or in person.

National Technical Assistance Center on Transition
This page is intended to provide guidance and resources related to effective practices related to transition of students with disabilities.

Career Assessment / Development Tools

Oregon Career Information System (CIS)
This site is used by a number of schools throughout the state.  For a subscription fee, it includes career and interest inventories, related career clusters and training information.  Students set up a profile and they can save their information, develop resumes and future plans. All information is geared toward Oregon youth. This site also includes lesson plans related to the career development process.

My Next Move
Originally developed for veterans, this federal website offers career development tools and lots of related careers, required training etc. Students can just search jobs of interest or take a career interest survey. They get a print out of their work. Much of the information on this page is also available in Spanis

Mi Próximo Paso
A Spanish-language version of My Next Move.

Career Bridge
This FREE tool is from Washington State and includes career exploration tools and a vast data base of occupations and related education or training needed.

Transition Assessments

TAGG
This assessment tool is rating scale which assess self advocacy, Present Level of Educational Performance and suggested goals related to the common core.

Aptitude Tests.Com
This site has a very complete list of FREE practice aptitude tests that students can use to see what they are good at.  Individuals can purchase more complete tests, but these will give students a sense of what the different aptitudes include.

Personality Lingo
Simple online assessment that assesses communication and working styles. This quick tool would be great for generating discussion about how our personalities impact our career choices.

Transition Curriculum

Student Directed Transition Planning (Lessons)
This site is hosted by the University of Oklahoma and includes has a series of FREE lessons that are directly aligned with the IEP process. In this way, students gain skills needed to meaningfully participate in their own transition planning and their own IEP meetings. You can also access links for each lesson, along with pre and post assessments.

Kids.gov
This site has a number of lessons and activities related to career development.  It is a federally funded page so is free to use in schools. This site is focused on younger students so is perfect for finding career tools for the Middle School teacher.

This nonprofit Organization provides training and support to parents and families throughout Oregon.

Employment First Initiative and Related Sites

Employment First
Oregon is an Employment First state which focuses on integrated employment for individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities.  This page provides information and contacts related to this initiative.
